The primary university logo is the core of the Universiti Kuala Lumpur visual identity. 

Logo Rationale

Colours

 

Blue

Represents skilled workers or blue-collar workers produced by UniKL through its training programmes, which emphasise hands-on technical skills.

 

Gold

Represents the academic programmes offered by UniKL in the field of high technology.

 

Red

Symbolises the torch of progress.

Together, these three colours convey the overall message that UniKL offers high-technology academic programmes integrated with hands-on, skills-based training, ultimately contributing to Malaysia’s development as a progressive nation.

Shape

Gear Shape (7 Gears)

The seven (7) rotating gears represent the earliest seven MARA Skills Institutes:a
  • MFI (MARA France Institute)
  • BMI (British Malaysian Institute)
  • MSI (Malaysia Spain Institute)
  • MIAT (Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology)
  • AIM (Advanced Institute of Manufacturing)
  • MICET (Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology)
  • MIMET (Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology)
These institutes served as the foundation for UniKL’s establishment. The gear shape was adapted from the MARA logo to signify UniKL’s role as the umbrella institution for MARA’s skills training programmes.
 

Letter “U”

Represents a university located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city, recognised as the nation’s centre for education, commerce, finance, and culture.
 

Letters “KL” (Kuala Lumpur)

Represent the university’s location in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, reinforcing the city’s identity as a centre of education.
 

“20.08.2002”

Represents the date on which UniKL was officially established and registered.
