Overview
Foundation in Medical Sciences is a programme specially designed to prepare students to enter bachelor’s degree courses in medicine and health sciences. The programme aspires to produce students who are knowledgeable and competent in the medical sciences.
The programme gives emphasis to basic theory and current concepts in the sciences, professional behaviour and ethics, effective use of ICT, use of quantitative methods and knowledge of market relevance to enable students to enrol into medical and health science courses.
It will equip students with knowledge and skills needed for a brighter career pathway and at the same time instil self-management skills and help to mould the characteristics needed for their future career in the medical field.
This is a one (1) year full-time study programme that incorporates practical elements to provide the opportunity for students to put theory into practice. Medical science-related subjects are offered to give students a focused route towards their undergraduate degree in medicine and health sciences.
Note: This is a self-sponsored programme and no financial assistance will be provided to the students.

Education Pathways
MBBS or Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) Programme
The placement for MBBS or Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme will be based on academic performance.
Entry Requirements
- Pass SPM / SPMV / O-Level with at least credits B in five (5) subjects inclusive of:
- Mathematics or Additional Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- One (1) other subject
- Credits C in Bahasa Malaysia and English or equivalent qualification.
- Pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / O-Level / equivalent with at least five (5) credits (minimum Grade C and higher); OR
- Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.
For international students, minimum English language requirements are:
- IELTS 4.0 / CEFR A2
- TOEFL PBT (397)
- TOEFL IBT (30–31)
- CAE (160) – Cambridge English: Advanced / CEFR B2
- CPE (180) – Cambridge English: Proficiency / CEFR C1
- PTE (Pearson Test of English) (30)
- MUET (Malaysian University English Test) (Band 2)
Students who enroll with qualifications from institutions that fully use English as the language of instruction or from English-speaking countries are excluded from the English language requirements.

Program Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an understanding of how communication shapes patterns of social interaction, the expression of cultural values and norms, political practices and relations of power, and our positions as local and global citizens.
Be able to use a variety of methodological tools to analyze interpersonal, intercultural, and rhetorical discourse that structures everyday interactions in both our public and private lives.
Demonstrate an understanding of the possibilities, problems, and history of discourse and deliberation in democracy and will be prepared to use their knowledge to work for a just and more humane world.
