Program Learning Outcomes
Overview
The Advanced Diploma in Midwifery is a one-year programme offered by the Royal College of Medicine Perak under Universiti Kuala Lumpur. It is designed for registered female nurses with a Diploma in Nursing, a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC), and a minimum of two years of clinical experience. The course is open to both Malaysian and international candidates; however, international students are not allowed to practise midwifery in Malaysia upon completion. The programme is HRD Corp registered and costs RM20,000. It includes both theoretical learning and clinical practicum to ensure comprehensive midwifery training.
The curriculum is structured into multiple modules, covering basic medical sciences, antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, high-risk obstetrics, obstetric emergencies, ethics, epidemiology, and research methodology. The programme includes two long semesters and one short semester, with theory, clinical placement, and research. Students will engage in intensive clinical practicum and complete MPU subjects in Semester 3. The aim is to develop competent midwives equipped with advanced knowledge and clinical skills to provide holistic maternal and infant care.

Entry Requirements
Malaysian Students:
- Pass Matriculation/ Pre-University/Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) programme or equivalent qualification with minimum GPA 2.33 in TWO of the following subjects:
- Biology
- Physics/Mathematics
- Chemistry
OR
- Recognised Diploma in minimum CGPA of 2.75 in related field
OR - Recognised Diploma with CGPA less than 2.75 in related field and minimum of 3 years (36 months) working experience in the related field
AND - Obtained MUET Band 3 OR IELTS (5.5)/TOEFL (550)
International Students:
- A-level programme or equivalent qualification with minimum Grade D in TWO of the following subjects:

- Physics/Mathematics
- Chemistry
AND
- *Minimum English language requirements are IELTS 5.0/CEFR B1 or equivalent TOEFL PBT (410-413) or TOEFL IBT (34) or CAE (160) (Cambridge English: Advance) /CEFR B2 or CPE (180) (Cambridge English: Proficiency) / CEFR C1 or PTE (Pearson Test of English) (36) or MUET (Malaysian University English Test) (band 3)
