Program Learning Outcomes

Overview

The Bachelor of Electronic Engineering Technology (Microelectronics) with Honours is a specialised programme designed to produce industry-ready technologists with strong technical knowledge and hands-on skills in semiconductor and microelectronic technologies.

The programme supports the national agenda by focusing on key areas such as integrated circuit (IC) design, semiconductor fabrication, packaging and failure analysis, with embedded Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The curriculum integrates theoretical learning with practical experience through advanced laboratory work, final-year projects and industrial training.

Graduates of this programme will be well-prepared for careers across multiple sectors, particularly in electronics, microelectronics and the semiconductor industries.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
  • PLO 1: Knowledge
    Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation to define and apply engineering procedures, processes, systems or methodologies. (SK1 to SK4)
  • PLO 2: Problem Analysis
    Identify, formulate, research literature and analyse broadly-defined engineering problems, reaching substantiated conclusions using analytical tools appropriate to their discipline or area of specialisation. (SK1 to SK4)
  • PLO 3: Design / Development of Solutions
    Design solutions for broadly-defined engineering technology problems and contribute to the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations. (SK5)
  • PLO 4: Investigation
    Conduct investigations of broadly-defined problems by locating, searching and selecting relevant data from codes, databases and literature, and designing and conducting experiments to provide valid conclusions. (SK8)
  • PLO 5: Modern Tool Usage
    Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to broadly-defined engineering problems, with an understanding of their limitations. (SK6)
  • PLO 6: The Engineer and Society
    Demonstrate understanding of societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technology practice and solutions to broadly-defined engineering problems. (SK7)

    Understand the impact of engineering technology solutions to broadly-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of sustainable development. (SK7)

Entry Requirements

Local Students
  • Pass in STPM / Matriculation / Foundation or its equivalent, with minimum CGPA 2.0 and at least Grade C in Mathematics and one relevant Science subject; OR
  • Pass in International Baccalaureate (18) with at least 24 points; OR
  • Pass in A-Level with minimum Grade D in Mathematics and one (1) relevant Science subject; OR
  • Pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with minimum grade of Jayyid and pass SPM or its equivalent with minimum Grade C in Mathematics and one relevant Physical Science subject (i.e; Physics, Chemistry, etc.); OR
  • Recognised Diploma in Engineering / Engineering Technology or its equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.0; OR
  • Recognised related Technical / Vocational / Skills Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.0; OR
  • Pass Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM) / Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM) / Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and the programme must obtain Full Accreditation (FA) by MQA or other recognised accreditation bodies, subject to approval by UniKL Senate; OR
  • Pass DKM / DLKM / DVM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and at least two (2) years of relevant working experience. The programme must obtain Full Accreditation (FA) by MQA or other recognised accreditation bodies, subject to approval by UniKL Senate.
