Bachelor Of Environmental Management And Sustainability Technology With Honours
Sarjana Muda Pengurusan Alam Sekitar dan Teknologi Kelestarian dengan Kepujian
The challenges of environment and sustainability are of paramount importance for businesses, requiring their constant attention and management. In the recently presented 12th Malaysian Plan, sustainability emerges as a prominent focal point, constituting one of the primary objectives. The government of Malaysia has made a commitment to transition towards a low-carbon economy and attain carbon neutrality by the year 2050. There is a pressing need for businesses to expedite their implementation of green initiatives, which will ultimately contribute to the development of a low carbon and circular economy. The presence of environmental professionals is essential in overseeing and managing operations conducted by both public and private entities. Employers are exhibiting a growing inclination towards recruiting graduates who possess not only technical proficiency but also demonstrate adeptness in efficiently and effectively managing business operations. The Bachelor of Environmental Management and Sustainability Technology with Honours (BEMST) programme aims to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills required to address current environmental challenges. Additionally, it aims to prepare students for the upcoming Internet of Things (IoT) revolution. This will result in a multitude of stimulating, varied, and captivating professional prospects.
BEMST offers two exciting specialisations within one amazing programme. It is a collaboration between UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (MICET) and UniKL Business School (UBIS). The programme is a unique blend of technical and business courses. It has been successfully developed through a cross-disciplinary approach, harnessing the expertise of both campuses and practitioners within business, commerce, and industry. The programme proudly includes embedded Professional Certificates SIRIM Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. It is designed to foster an Industrial – Academia Collaboration and Linkage, enabling students to acquire extensive knowledge and competence. The programme also aims to develop students with admirable self and leadership qualities, while ensuring they are physically, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually balanced. BEMST is accredited by the Malaysia Board of Technologies (MBOT), which means our graduates are qualified to apply for the Professional Technologist designation. This prestigious designation allows them to proudly add the prefix “Ts” in front of their name, showcasing their expertise and dedication in the field.
The program will run in both UniKL campuses: 2 years in UniKL MICET and another year at UniKL UBIS. Additionally, 30% subjects taught during the 3rd year are eligible for credit transfer to Master of Business Administration (MBA) at UniKL UBIS. This will provide an excellent platform for BEMST graduates to complete their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within four and half years.
