The doctorate program was established in response to the need for postgraduate courses in the field aerospace and its related fields. Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) is the nation’s premier aviation training institution Research in the areas of Composites, Advanced Manufacturing, Avionics, Mechanical, Ergonomics, UAV, Airline Maintenance, Aviation Management & Quality Assurance, Nanotechnology and other aerospace-related fields. Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

Within three (3) to five (5) years after graduation from this programme, the graduates are expected to attain:

  • PEO1: Knowledgeable, competent, and innovative in aerospace industry
  • PEO2: Effective leaders with teamwork and interpersonal communication skills in leading and engaging multidisciplinary teams in solving aerospace problems
  • PEO3: Capable of using analytical and creative problem-solving skills to evaluate and make decision based on research evidence and/or experience
  • PEO4: Committed towards the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement in aerospace with embark on technopreneurial opportunities
  • PEO5: Integrate with ethical, social and professional responsibilities in aerospace
  • PEO6: Utilise aerospace knowledge and skills and dissemination of research through publication and /or product.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLO)

At the end of the programme, graduates should be able to:

  • PLO1: Demonstrate a critical and in depth understanding of frontier knowledge by generating substantial and novel contribution in aerospace
  • PLO2: Synthesize new and current knowledge while contributing to new concepts or interpretations or applications in aerospace
  • PLO3: Conduct rigorous and independent research or investigation with minimal supervision
  • PLO4: Demonstrate intellectual leadership qualities and management skill in aerospace field.
  • PLO5: Perform research adhering to legal, ethical, professional, and sustainable practices
  • PLO6: Communicate cogently in the aerospace field and interact with specialists and the general audience
  • PLO7: Select and utilise suitable digital and analytical techniques for the aerospace research problems

Entry Requirement

Local Student

  • A master’s degree in the field or related fields accepted by the HEP Senate, or
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a master’s degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia,or
  • Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the HEP, or
  • A Bachelor’s degree with the following conditions:
    1. a bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with first-class (CGPA of 3.67 or higher) or its equivalent from an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme;
    2. undergo internal assessment; and
    3. any other requirements of the HEP.

  • Bachelor’s degree candidates who are registered for master’s degree programmes may apply to convert to the doctoral degree programmes subjected to the following conditions:
    1. within 1 year for full time and within 2 years for part-time candidates;
    2. having shown competency and capability in conducting research at doctoral-level through rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP; and
    3. Approval of the HEP Senate.
  • Entry Requirement(s) for International Students

    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score 500 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score 5.0 or equivalent
