Program Learning Outcomes

Overview

This programme aims to produce skilled researchers and professionals in Islamic finance with strong research capabilities, ethical values, and leadership qualities. It focuses on developing expertise in areas such as Islamic banking, capital markets, and takaful, while promoting independent inquiry, lifelong learning, and impactful contributions to academic and professional fields.

    Prepare competent practitioners / researchers with a firm grounding in Islamic finance, who can foster research and development of new knowledge in specific areas.

    Equip practitioners / researchers with in-depth knowledge of Islamic finance and a focused understanding in the area of expertise.

Entry Requirements
  1. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate OR
  2. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience***** and rigorous internal assessment**** OR
  3. A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses*** OR
  4. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) as recognized by the Malaysian Government
Notes:
  1. Rigorous assessment to evaluate the suitability of an applicant for a programme through statement of purpose, interview and other methods may cover the following criteria:
    • Demonstration of strong MIF experience, and holding of significant managerial responsibilities.
    • Evidence of any achievements in professional life, for example, consistently performing at a high level, consistent career progression and any impact to an organisation.
    • Professional skills, for example, team work, leadership, problem-solving, negotiating and analytical skills.
    • Possible contribution to the class and institution.
  2. Experience can be cumulative experience even before acquiring required qualification for a particular level of study. However, the experience must be relevant to the level of study as well as the content.
  3. The pre-requisite courses must equip the students with necessary MIF knowledge (Fiqh Muamalat, Usul Fiqh, Qawaid Fiqhiyyah, Islamic Theology) of one level lower than the programme level.

Demonstrate an understanding of how communication shapes patterns of social interaction, the expression of cultural values and norms, political practices and relations of power, and our positions as local and global citizens.

Be able to use a variety of methodological tools to analyze interpersonal, intercultural, and rhetorical discourse that structures everyday interactions in both our public and private lives.

Demonstrate an understanding of the possibilities, problems, and history of discourse and deliberation in democracy and will be prepared to use their knowledge to work for a just and more humane world.
