Overview

Doctor of Philosophy (Manufacturing) focuses on the research, design and development of manufacturing systems, processes, machines, tools, and equipment, which steer forward the practical changes in the lives of individuals, societies, as well as national and international industries.

Manufacturing is multidisciplinary, most notably overlapping with industrial, and design engineering and technology, where this Doctoral degree would enable students to venture into higher level research area, and guide them to have higher level of thinking, and further develop novel ideas and findings. Additionally, with the novel and innovative ways of designing better systems and processes for real world problems, students would be able to envision the viabilities of fulfilling the research ideas. Projects areas can cover many different fields within this manufacturing discipline, for example design, manufacturing, assembly, measurement, testing and modelling and spans a range of applications including automotive, medicine, aerospace, energy and the construction industry and it includes work from the most fundamental studies up to commercial investigations.

Doctor of Philosophy (Manufacturing) graduates would have a better opportunity for career advancement in their current jobs or within the manufacturing sector for instance; as research and development engineers, manufacturing managers, design managers, researchers, consultants and academicians.
