Overview

The Master of Business Technology (MBT) at UniKL MSI is developed to meet the real demands of today’s digital-driven workplace, where businesses need professionals who understand both technology and management strategy. This programme is designed to help working adults and graduates build essential skills in technology management, enabling them to lead digital projects, manage the adoption of new technologies, and streamline business processes for greater efficiency and growth. Taught by both experienced lecturers, the MBT encourages critical thinking, data-driven decisions, and leadership, empowering them to take on impactful roles across a wide range of industries.

Career Information

A Master of Business Technology (MBT) opens up a wide range of career opportunities that blend business management with technological expertise. Graduates can pursue roles such as Business Analysts with a focus on technology to analyze and improve business processes, while Product Managers handle the development and lifecycle of tech products, collaborating with engineering, marketing, and sales teams.

For those with strong leadership abilities, roles like Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Technology Officer (CTO) offer the chance to shape an organization’s overall tech strategy.

Finally, some may choose the entrepreneurial path as a Tech Entrepreneur or Startup Founder, launching innovative tech products or services. These roles often require specialized skills or certifications, but an MBT provides the foundation to excel in a technology-driven business environment.

Entry Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and with relevant working experience, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses namely Principles of Management / Principle of Accounting / Supply Chain Management / Business Communication / Production Planning; OR
  • Other equivalent/related qualifications to a bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) recognized by the Malaysian Government
English Requirement for International Students:
  • Minimum Band 4 in MUET OR equivalent to CEFR (Mid B2)
  • Equivalency score IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL PBT 550

Notes:
  • The pre-requisite courses must equip the students with necessary business knowledge (managing people, managing financial resources, understanding customers, understanding environments and strategic planning) of one level lower than the programme level.
  • Students from non-related business backgrounds are required to sit for the Qualifying Test and need to pass with minimum marks of 50%.
  • For students from non-related fields and without relevant working experience, HEP decided students need to pass any one or similar to the area of pre-requisite courses during bachelor’s degree as below:

Demonstrate an understanding of how communication shapes patterns of social interaction, the expression of cultural values and norms, political practices and relations of power, and our positions as local and global citizens.

Be able to use a variety of methodological tools to analyze interpersonal, intercultural, and rhetorical discourse that structures everyday interactions in both our public and private lives.
