UniKL launches Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) has unveiled a five-year anti-corruption plan in a bid to curb corruption, integrity and governance within the organisation.

The Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) sets out 91 short and long-term initiatives to be implemented over the five-year period starting from 2022 until 2026.

It was launched today (5 October 2022) by the Chairman of MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd, YB Senator Dato’ Wira Othman Aziz, with the presence of UniKL’s Board of Directors member and a fellow of Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Dato’ Dr Afifi Al-Akiti virtually; MARA Corporation Internal Audit and Integrity Manager, Encik Norhisham Nordin; Senior Superintendent at Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Farizal Muzaffar Hafiz Abdul Wahab and UniKL’s President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar

OACP is a clear demonstration of UniKL’s commitment to establishing adequate procedures to prevent bribery and corruption in the organisation.

It is also in accordance with the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) under Initiative 6.2.1, which obliges Statutory Bodies, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Company Limited by Guarantee (CLBG) and private sectors regulated by regulatory bodies to develop anti-corruption plans.

This plan will be the basis of UniKL’s integrity and anti-corruption practice as well as for the inculcation of ethical business culture.

Throughout the development process of the plan, representatives from each division, department, and unit of UniKL participated in briefings and workshops before it was finalised.

A corruption-combatting initiative has been undertaken by UniKL since the establishment of the Integrity and Governance Unit (IGU) in November 2019 which gradually led to the formation of OACP.

It is therefore the responsibility of the IGU to monitor and coordinate the reports of OACP’s action plans on a twice-yearly basis.
