UniKL’s foundation programmes are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a competitive university environment. Supported by a well-structured curriculum, each foundation stream provides hands-on learning that builds strong analytical, technical and problem-solving abilities. Whether in Science & Technology, Business, Science, Medical Sciences, Computer Technology, Creative Art & Design, Science & Art, Arts, or the Foundation in Science and Technology for Korean Universities, students gain essential competencies that prepare them for success in their chosen fields across science, engineering, technology and the creative industries.
The Foundation in Science and Technology programme is designed for local and international students who are keen to pursue their undergraduate studies at Universiti Kuala Lumpur in the field of engineering, engineering technology, chemical engineering, information technology, multimedia and business engineering programmes.
Foundation in Business is specially designed to prepare the students for entry into the first year Bachelor Programme at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Business School (UBIS) majoring in Business, International Business, Marketing, Islamic Finance and Accounting.
Foundation in Science (FSc) is specially designed to prepare excellent students for entry into the first year Bachelor Programme at Universiti Kuala Lumpur specifically in Engineering, Biomedical, Pharmaceutical Technology, Nursing, Biomedical, Environmental & Chemical.
Foundation in Medical Sciences is a programme specially designed to prepare students to enter bachelor degree programmes in Medical, Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The programme aspires to produce students who are knowledgeable and competent in medical sciences. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for a brighter career pathway and at the same time instil self-management skills and help to cultivate the characteristics needed for their future career in the the medical field.
Foundation in Computer Technology is designed to emphasize on practical and hands-on whereby the students participate actively for their learning. This programme will produce graduates who are knowledgeable and competent in Computer Technology fields, qualified and capable to pursue further education at Universiti Kuala Lumpur or other institutions of higher learning.
The Foundation in Creative Art and Design proposes a one-year (2 semesters) program consisting of 50 credit hours. This program provides students with the theoretical and practical foundations for knowledge and skills acquisition in various disciplines of study in creative art and design and prepares them for undergraduate studies at Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) throughout Malaysia. At the end of this program, students will be able to develop design concepts, theories, and principles in their area of study, source and process data using appropriate digital applications, analyze and apply information to solve problems, and develop their skills for lifelong learning and communication in responsible ways.
The Foundation in Science and Arts is a 1-year full time comprehensive programme designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and learning essential for the smooth transition to undertake an undergraduate degree at local and overseas universities. The programme offers diverse modules in disciplines such as technical science, management, finances, mass communication and visual arts. By the end of the programme, students will have a clearer direction and better understanding of their fields of interest. The modules offered will enhance students’ academic knowledge, expose students to latest developments in the respective areas of studies and foster their critical thinking skills.
The Foundation in Arts is a comprehensive pre-university programme designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for further studies in related disciplines. This one-year programme offers a balanced curriculum that integrates fundamental subjects in business, humanities, and social sciences, with a strong emphasis on business principles, communication, and analytical thinking. Students will be introduced to key areas such as economics, accounting, management, marketing, and basic mathematics for business, alongside critical thinking, academic writing, and information technology. Upon successful completion, students will be well-prepared to pursue degrees in business, management, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, and other related fields.
Foundation in Science and Technology for Korean Universities prepares students to continue the degree programme at any Korean universities. This programme is the pioneer in Malaysia that used Korean Language as a medium of teaching and learning. This programme is Self-Sponsored and also under Young Talent Development Programme (YTP).
The Pre-France programme is a 13 months long preparatory programme aimed for students with academic excellence to pursue their studies in France via our collaboration partners, the Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) for the first 2 years before they can apply to enrol into Ecole d’Ingénieur (School of Engineering) for Master’s in Engineering or French Universities for Master’s in Science. Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute has been aptly chosen to be the centre for this preparatory programme as it stresses on the concept of teaching and learning in the French way. Through the France Collaboration Programme (FCP) Section, the Pre-France programme was developed through the actual experience of those who have gone through years of experience of living and studying in France, thus making this programme a success. Application to this programme can be made under the Young Talent Development Programme (YTP) for MARA and PROGRAM KHAS JEPUN, KOREA, PERANCIS, JERMAN (JKPJ) for JPA.
