Be dynamic and lead Malaysia to the betterment, Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid urged

The fate of Malaysia’s future now lies in youth; hence, the Minister of Rural Development (KPLB), Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid has urged the young generation to be dynamic in all aspects of life.

As the future of this nation can be challenging to predict, therefore, there is an urgency for the Malaysian youth to be knowledgeable and create more professionals as well as technocrats in all diverse industries, Dato’ Seri Mahdzir further noted.

“The prosperity of this country can be realised if young people know the responsibilities and roles they play. If this generation is still relying on their family to survive, the future trajectory of Malaysia will get nowhere.

“Therefore, they must have the discipline to shape their lives and the nation, as well as be dedicated and knowledgeable. Among the university students, especially at UniKL, there must be leaders who dare to present new ideas to the university.

“The university can arrange any programme to empower students. But, it is the young people who need to come up with ideas to create a learning environment that is conducive for them,” said him after officiating the ‘UniKL Ministerial Talk Series’ at UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), yesterday.

The ‘UniKL Ministerial Talk Series’ was organised by UniKL Campus Lifestyle Division (CLD) with the aim of providing exposure and sharing of experience on leadership apart from providing an opportunity for student leaders to communicate and engage with the Minister of Rural Development, in line with the spirit of ‘Keluarga Malaysia’.

Prior to that, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid undertook a 15-minute tour at two helicopter hangars of UniKL MIAT and then officiated the campus’ Advanced Flight Simulation Centre for Aircraft Type Rating Training Programme for Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

For the record, the RM2.9 million simulator is the only B737-800 simulator operating in Malaysia apart from the one available at Malaysia Airlines.

Also in attendance, Ministry of Rural Development Secretary-General, YBhg. Dato’ Ramlan Harun; Deputy Director-General (Education) of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Razlan Haji Samsuri; Executive Director of MARA Corporation Sdn. Bhd., YBhg. Dato’ Suhaili Abdul Rahman; Chairman of UniKL, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Sukiman Sarmani; President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar; and President of UniKL Student Representative Council, Muhammad Faez Rashdan Mohd Rifae.

“To date, 67.8% of the UniKL MIAT students are from rural areas, and 85% of these students received MARA loans, which means most of them are from low-income families.

“At the same time, the employability of the graduates here (UniKL MIAT) is also high. I am looking forward to seeing more huge success of UniKL MIAT in the future. I assure you that the government will pursue the educational programme agenda under MARA,” told him.

Notably, the campus has 2,233 students and 1,317 of them have enrolled in bachelor programme, 782 in diploma programme, 50 students in professional certificate, 49 in Pre-Russian programme, and 35 in postgraduate programme.
