UniKL explores collaboration with Sabah State Government

In a bid to foster educational partnerships and provide greater opportunities for students from Sabah, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) welcomed a delegation from the Sabah State Government for a crucial engagement session earlier today.

The session aimed to discuss potential collaborations between the two entities to attract more students from Sabah and shed light on the diverse study opportunities offered by UniKL.

Led by its Deputy State Secretary for Special Tasks, YBhg. Tuan Haji Sapdin Ibrahim, the delegation engaged in a productive dialogue with representatives from UniKL, led by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, the Acting President/Chief Executive Officer.

The focus of the discussion revolved around strategies to increase the representation of Sabahan students at UniKL, a number which currently stands at a modest percentage.

During the session, Dr. Azman highlighted the plethora of programmes that UniKL offers and expressed his enthusiasm for making these offerings more accessible to students from Sabah.

He underscored the need for collaboration to ensure that deserving students from Sabah can benefit from quality higher education without constraints.

“At UniKL, we have an array of academic programmes that cater to a diverse range of interests. Our aim is to ensure that students from Sabah are fully aware of these opportunities and can seize them without any barriers,” stated Dr. Azman.

A substantial portion of Sabahan students at UniKL are recipients of sponsorship from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).

Recognising other significant sponsorship capacities available in Sabah, the engagement session aimed to explore ways to support more deserving Sabahan students in pursuing higher education.

Also present during the engagement session were the Deputy President (Academic & Technology) of UniKL, Prof. Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir and the Deputy President (Student Development and Campus Lifestyle), Prof. Ts. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long.
