HARA 2023: UniKL assumes pivotal role nurturing high-integrity intellectuals

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) assumes a pivotal role in nurturing intellectuals and fostering a workforce with a commitment to high-integrity values, marking a significant milestone as the first private higher education institution (IPTS) to introduce the Integrity and Anti-Corruption module course.

The Director-General of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azhar Abdul Manaf, emphasised the importance of graduates from UniKL, highlighting their integral role in upholding work ethics and delivering top-tier quality work.

Addressing the audience during the officiating speech at the celebration of the Sambutan Hari Anti–Rasuah Antarabangsa (HARA 2023) on December 4th at UniKL City Campus, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azhar Abdul Manaf stressed the necessity to elevate awareness and education about the perils of corruption.

“We need to enhance understanding and education about the dangers of corruption while promoting moral attitudes and integrity in every aspect of our lives.

“Through education and awareness, we can create a generation that prioritises the values of honesty, justice, and responsibility,” he said.

The event, organised by MARA Integrity Unit and UniKL Integrity & Governance Unit, aligns with international Anti-Corruption efforts, leading up to December 9th, under the theme ‘Uniting The World Against Corruption.’

Dignitaries present at the occasion included the Deputy Director-General (Education) of MARA, YBhg. En. Razlan Haji Samsuri; MARA Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Rohayah Mohd Zain; Acting President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, and UniKL Deputy President (Academic & Technology), Prof. Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir.

UniKL has undertaken significant measures to combat corruption at both organisational and academic levels.

This includes the implementation of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption module course, a collaborative effort with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The module is provided by MACC to impart comprehensive knowledge.

Following that, UniKL introduced the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP), a five-year initiative aimed at curbing corruption and enhancing integrity and governance within the organisation.
