UniKL’s high-tech specialisations take centre stage at KKDW Pavilion

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) made a strong impression at the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) Pavilion, by prominently showcasing its five cutting-edge areas of specialisation, making it one of the main attractions at the event.

The impressive lineup of exhibits included the Railway Simulator from UniKL Asia Rail Centre, ship models from the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET), an Immersive Desa & Pulau Bidong Virtual Reality experience from the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), a Cyber Attack and Cyber Security Simulation from UniKL MIIT, and an Aircraft Trainer from the UniKL Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT).

For the first time, visitors had the opportunity to witness live demonstrations of the exhibits, including the newly-minted Minister of KKDW, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, during his walkabout session at the pavilion.

He was given the opportunity to test the technology himself, starting with the Immersive Desa & Pulau Bidong Virtual Reality, which is the brainchild of UniKL MIIT’s final year project.

He was thoroughly impressed with the Railway Simulator, which provided him with an immersive and realistic replica of the cab or driver’s compartment, allowing him to experience the intricacies and complexities of train operations firsthand.

The pavilion was officially launched yesterday by Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid, with UniKL joining the other 14 exhibitors, which are agencies and subsidiaries of KKDW at the World Trade Centre (WTC).

Also present were the Secretary-General of KKDW, YBhg. Dato’ Ramlan Harun; Director General of MARA, YBhg. Dato’ Azhar Abdul Manaf; Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) of KKDW, YBhg. Datuk Che Murad Sayang Ramjan; Deputy Secretary-General (Development) of KKDW, En. Mas Rizal Mohd Hilmi; Chief Executive Officer of Mara Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Dato’ Julainie Mohd Salleh; President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar; and UniKL Deputy President (International, Industrial and Institutional Partnership), Prof. Madya Ir. Dr. Azman Senin.
