ICAAMGS 2023 unlocks aerospace horizons

The International Conference on Aerospace, Aviation Management, and Global Supply Chain (ICAAMGS 2023) is poised to emerge as a pivotal event for the aerospace community to converge and devise strategies around the latest innovations.

Hosted by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), its Dean, Dr. Mohd Hafizi Shamsudin expressed that the inaugural conference aims not only to explore technological advancements in the aviation landscape but also to critically evaluate the skill set and talent necessary for human capital development in the industry.

“By organising this conference, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd and Unikl MIAT are signalling to Asia’s aerospace, aviation management and supply chain community its readiness to be a valuable partner in the total aerospace supply chain.

“MARA is set to take the initiative in developing skills especially human talents and aviation skills development,” he said during delivering his speech at ICAAMGS 2023 which took place at Everly Hotel, Putrajaya.

This inaugural international conference gathers multi-stakeholders in the aviation ecosystem including academicians, scholars, practitioners, industry partners and policymakers to discuss the current and future landscape of the aviation industry.

The conference was officiated by the Chairman of MARA, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dato’ Dusuki.

Also present were MARA Council Members, YBhg. Prof Tan Sri Noor Azlan Ghazali and YBhg. Puan Ajar@Siti Ajar Yasin; MARA Deputy General (Entrepreneurship), YBhg. Dato’ Zulfikri Osman; MARA Deputy Director General (Education), YBhg. Encik Razlan Haji Samsuri; Group Chief Executive Officer of MARA Corporation, YBhg. Dato’ Julainie Mohd Salleh; and President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, YBhg. Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar.

In his officiating speech, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Asyraf Wajdi emphasised that the aerospace industry workforce has experienced robust growth, comprising nearly 8,000 employees as of 2017.

“In Malaysia, our aerospace industry is not just surviving; it is thriving. It is one of our nation’s rapidly ascending sectors, turbocharged by our National Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030.

“We recognise the need to have a skilled workforce in establishing a strong aerospace supply chain within the country, and we have more than 30 institutions offering aviation courses to prepare our young talents for the industry’s needs,” said him.

The conference continued for two days, from 15 to 16 June, including two forums, women’s coffee talk and academic papers parallel presentation session.

The first forum discussed on “Technology Advancement in The Aviation Landscape” with three panelists: the Joint Chairman (Government) for The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), YBhg. Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Zakri Abdul Hamid ; Professor from UniKL, YBhg. Professor Dato’ Hj. Ahmad Zahir Hj. Mokhtar; and Chief Executive Officer of Pen Aviation, Mr. Jean-Bernard Boura.

In the second forum session with the topic, “Talent Development in Aerospace: Current Scenario in Malaysia”, three panelists have been invited to deliberate the topic, Chief Executive Officer, Galaxy Aerospace, YBhg. Dato’ Shamsul Kamar Samsudin; Chief Executive Officer, Global Turbine Asia (GTA), YBhg. Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato’ Mohd Radzi; and Engineering and Training Sale Director of SEA Region Magnetic Group, Ms. Ana Alvarez.
