Izdihar Amri honoured as inaugural Ulul Albab’s Award recipient

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) proudly introduced the Ulul Albab’s Special Award at its 20th Convocation Ceremony, a distinguished accolade aimed at recognising outstanding graduates who have not only excelled academically but have also demonstrated exceptional commitment to religious memorisation and knowledge.

Izdihar Amri Saari, a Bachelor’s degree graduate in Aircraft Engineering Technology (Hons) in Mechanical from the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), has been named as the inaugural recipient of this prestigious award.

The Ulul Albab’s Special Award is granted to individuals who meet stringent criteria, including the successful completion of academic studies, the memorisation of 30 Juz of the Quran, passing the memorisation exam, and obtaining the Malaysian Tahfiz Certificate from Darul Quran JAKIM during their tenure at UniKL. Izdihar Amri has met and exceeded all these requirements.

When asked about the sources of inspiration that fuelled his remarkable achievement, Izdihar Amri credited his parents, siblings, and teachers for their pivotal role in his journey.

He drew strength from their courage, accomplishments, and prayers, which continually bolstered his determination to become a successful individual and a hafiz.

“I hope to bridge the gap between technical and religious knowledge, allowing others to perceive the profound connections between the two and share this insight with others,” he remarked.

Izdihar Amri was conferred with the Ulul Albab’s Special Award during the main session of UniKL’s 20th Convocation, presented by His Majesty Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Mustain Billah.

Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), YB Datuk Hajah Rubiah Haji Wang; KKDW’s Secretary-General, YBhg. Dato’ Ramlan Dato’ Harun; Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Pro-Chancellor of UniKL, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dato’ Dusuki; Director-General of MARA, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azhar Abdul Manaf; Chairman of UniKL, YB Dato’ Sri Sh. Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali, and Acting President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, YBhg. Prof. Madya Ir. Dr. Azman Senin.

In this edition’s convocation ceremony, a total of 51 Huffaz Professional students graduated, having completed their studies at both the bachelor’s and diploma levels, and successfully finished 14 additional modules developed by UniKL.

In addition to obtaining their degrees and diplomas, these graduates also receive a memorisation certificate upon completing their studies at UniKL.

UniKL initiated the Huffaz Professional programme in 2016, and to date, it has successfully produced 162 graduates. Currently, there are 378 students enrolled in the Huffaz Professional programme at UniKL.

For the record, the convocation ceremony held from November 4th to 7th, 2023, celebrates a total of 6,039 graduates receiving their respective doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and diploma degrees.

This first session also witnessed 32 outstanding students receiving the Chancellor’s Award, Special Award, Council’s Award, and President’s Award.
