UniKL MIAT alumnus appointed as board member of MBOT

Tc. Mas Muhammad Haziq Saifuddin, an alumnus of Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), has been appointed as a new board member of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).

His appointment, effective from November 30th, was officially announced through a press release by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI).

This significant move reflects the government’s acknowledgement of the Technician group, facilitated by the ministry.

Previously perceived solely as technical support staff across various industries, this recognition aims to elevate the status of the Technician profession.

Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Yang Berhormat Tuan Chang Lih Kang, emphasised in the press release, “The appointment of Tc. Mas Muhammad Haziq Saifuddin as a new Member of the MBOT Board is an endeavour to enhance the standing of the Technician profession, while also acknowledging graduates of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at a higher level, particularly in the administration of a body that recognises this group.”

Mas Muhammad Haziq, a graduate of Aircraft Maintenance Technology with a major in Composites studies from UniKL MIAT, brings over a decade of experience in the aerospace and oil and gas industries.

Currently affiliated with GE Aerospace as an Engine Technician, his expertise adds value to the board.

In the same statement, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang expressed his optimism that this recognition will serve as an inspiration for Technicians to achieve not only in technical fields but also to assume managerial roles at higher levels.

For the record, MBOT is a professional body that gives Professional Recognition to Technologists and Technicians in related technology and technical fields.

In order to retain the number of TVET workforces growing in the industry, MBOT also assists in ensuring the quality of the profession is in line with the dynamic development of the current industry and current trends in manufacturing technologies including, among others, automation, Internet-of-things and cyber-physical systems.
