New students’ oath-taking concludes E-WOW January 2022

The new students of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) for the January/February 2022 intake have made their pledge to abide by the university’s constitution, rules and regulations in accordance with the Malaysian constitution and law.

The oath-taking was performed virtually during the closing ceremony of Welcoming & Orientation Week (E-WOW) Series 2, led by Nurul Nazeera Mohd Yusri from UniKL Business School (UBIS) and student representatives from all 12 campuses of UniKL.

This indirectly concluded the orientation week which is designed to help new students settle in and transition into their university life.

Also present, UniKL Deputy President (Student Development & Campus Lifestyle), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Khairanum Subari; Director of UniKL Campus Lifestyle Division (CLD), Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin Fahmy Abu; and Interim President of UniKL Student Representative Council 2022, Muhammad Faez Rashdan.

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Khairanum during delivering her closing remarks on behalf of the UniKL President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr. Roziah Omar, encouraged the newcomers to balance their campus lifestyle between studies and extracurricular activities.

“On behalf of the UniKL President, I would like to congratulate you on your achievement and admission to UniKL. You are certainly making the best choice for your tertiary education. It has always been our mission to produce successful and excellent graduates by offering the right curriculum driven by professional and industry needs.

“Students must also realise that university is not only a place to develop academic and technical expertise. But, it is also where new passions are developed and discovered, additional skills will be enhanced, and new friends and lifelong networks are being fostered.

“It is important for students to balance between studies and extracurricular activities. Holistic and well-rounded students do not devote their time 24 hours to studies alone. You have to engage in more activities and develop experiences outside of the classroom,” she advised.

This time around, UniKL offers a virtual experience of orientation week along with other fun activities, sharing sessions and information regarding the next chapter in life for the new students.

Notably, E-WOW kicked off its first series on 7 February and the second series started on 14 February and ended today.
