Dr Norzahir once again named in World’s Top 2% Scientists

Stanford University has included the researcher and Deputy Dean of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), Assoc. Prof. ChM. Ts. Dr. Norzahir Sapawe in its annual “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022” list, released recently.

The recognition is Dr. Norzahir’s second, following his appearance on last year’s list.

This ranking, considered the most prestigious worldwide, is based on bibliometric information contained in the Scopus database and includes more than 180,000 researchers from more than 8 million scientists considered to be active around the world.

Dr. Norzahir expressed his appreciation for the honour, describing it as a prestigious recognition of the impact of his research on the scientific community.

“The number of citations of scientific publications is one of the indicators that are considered for determining research visibility. My inclusion among the top 2% of most widely cited scientists in my disciplines of work, is a prestigious recognition of the impact my research has on the scientific community.

“This recognition will enhance the image of UniKL as a higher-learning institute with quality research in the eyes of the world. In addition, it will also encourage more interaction between local and international researchers and industries to pursue academic excellence besides solving the problems currently available,” remarked him.

The Stanford University rankings began in 2019, which published an update of the list of the top 2% most widely cited scientists in different disciplines, whereby 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields were taken into account.

For the record, the US-based Stanford University is one of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions.
