Arwa earns runner-up title for UniKL in IPT Quran Recitation

Reciting at least one page daily played a crucial element in Arwa Khairuddin securing the runner-up position in the Quran Recitation Category (Female) at the Higher Education Institution (IPT) Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly 2023.

At the same time, the 22-year-old Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) student at Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) shared that effective time management played a pivotal role in her preparation.

“Time to study, play, practice, and so on needs to be organised well,” Arwa explained.

“I will list the important things that I need to complete, such as assignments, club tasks, and my Al-Quran reading target.”

This competition marked Arwa’s second representation of UniKL in a Quran recitation competition, but it was her most significant and challenging endeavour to date.

With determination, she scored an impressive 85.83% and claimed RM1,500 in cash.

The award ceremony was graced by, the Deputy Director-General (Policy) of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), Dato’ Dr. Sirajuddin Suhaimee, on September 29th.

Reflecting on her initial hesitations about participating, Arwa shared, “When I received the invitation letter to participate in this competition, I was less confident that I would be able to participate.

“However, I intended to gain experience, and knowledge, and rekindle the skills I had left behind for a long time, all while representing UniKL proudly.”

Arwa gave credit to her parents, who played a significant role in her Quranic journey and academic pursuits.

“My parents have never tired of supporting and encouraging me, never hindering me from pursuing my talent since my school days,” remarked her.

She also expressed her gratitude for the opportunities UniKL provided, particularly the Huffaz Professional Committee, which allowed her to continue her Quranic education.

Arwa thanked Ustaz Muhammad Asyraf, the club’s advisor, and Ustaz Muhammad Loqman for their invaluable support and for opening doors for her to enhance her skills through competitions.
