SRC-PEC engagement session sparks issue-resolution

An engagement session held on August 26th between the Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Student Representative Committee (SRC) and the university’s President Executive Committee (PEC) has proven to be a pivotal moment in addressing various pressing issues within the institution.

The gathering took place at the UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) and saw the participation of 155 SRC members, Student Development and Campus Lifestyle (SDCL) representatives, and the top-level university management.

The PEC included the Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin, who also holds the position of Deputy President for International, Industrial, and Institutional Partnership; UniKL Deputy President for Academic & Technology, Prof. Dr. Kushairy Abdul Kadir; UniKL Deputy President for Student Development & Campus Lifestyle, Prof. Ts. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long, and Covering Chief Management & Services Officer (CMSO), Mrs. Mariam Yahaya.

The session was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin Fahmy Abu, the Director of UniKL Campus Lifestyle Department, who commented on the constructive nature of the discussions that transpired during the engagement.

One of the central issues raised by the SRC during the session was related to pressing concerns and the need for enhancements.

The PEC demonstrated a keen interest in understanding the challenges faced by the SRC, particularly in the realm of finances.

According to Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Izuddin Fahmy, UniKL’s top management pledged to address these concerns proactively, emphasising their commitment to improving existing processes and mechanisms.

In response to the SRC’s concerns, UniKL is gearing up for a comprehensive policy review with the aim of streamlining and enhancing the process flow.

The engagement session was conducted in conjunction with the Skill Enhancement: Event Protocol Workshop 2023, which took place from August 26th to 27th.

The session’s primary objective was to foster a deeper mutual understanding of UniKL’s vision, goals, and strategies between SRC members and the university’s management.

This aligns all team members’ efforts with the broader institutional objectives, facilitating a more cohesive and collaborative environment within the institution.
