Technofest 2022 incentivises students to venture into digital business

Technofest 2022, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)’s largest festival of entrepreneurial activities, successfully concluded yesterday (8 December 2022).

An estimated 5,000 students participated in the annual programme at UniKL City Campus starting on December 6, to enliven the entrepreneurial activities.

Officiating Technofest 2022’s closing ceremony, the Deputy Director-General (Entrepreneurship) of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), YBhg. Dato’ Zulfikri Osman congratulated and was gratified of UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT)’s accomplishment, in particular, for making the festival a success.

“Technofest 2022 is a ‘floor’ for UniKL students to gain real-world experience of entrepreneurship and a totally different grounding from what they have been learning in lectures.

“Since they are familiar with the digital economy, I believe this type of festival will further prepare them for the job market later on,” he told the press after the closing ceremony.

Also present were the Group Chief Executive Officer of MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Julainie Mohd Salleh; Wilayah Persekutuan State Office Director of MARA, Syed Saifuddin Syd Ahmad; President/Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Datuk Dr Roziah Omar; Covering Deputy President (Academic &Technology) of UniKL, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Khairil Rahmat; and Deputy Dean (Academic &Technology) of UniKL MIIT, Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Mohd Nizam Husen.

The festival allows students who are taking the Technopreneurship subject at UniKL to showcase and sell their products to potential end-users, thus enabling them to channel their creativity and build business relationships.

Technofest 2022 was organised by the Teknoputra Unit of UniKL MIIT in collaboration with MARA Wilayah Persekutuan State Office, which is one of the festival’s main sponsors.

It was also funded by Malaysian Youth Community (MYC), Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

In addition to the sales booth, the highlighted activities include club registration, a singing competition and talk series.
