Triumph over tragedy: Nabil Hasif’s inspiring journey to empower youth

The night was supposed to be a joyous occasion, filled with laughter and a fine dinner.

But fate had other plans for Nabil Hasif Nazrin and his family. In a flash of a second, a careless driver careened into their car, stealing away Nabil Hasif’s precious freedom and dreams forever.

The 22-year-old was left paralysed and devastated by the horrific accident that occurred on August 6th last year.

Against all odds, Nabil Hasif defied the doctor’s grim prediction that he had only a 20 percent chance of survival. With sheer grit and unwavering determination, he refused to give up.

For a month, Nabil Hasif fought to regain even the slightest hint of movement. But the road to recovery was long and arduous, with the young man struggling to come to terms with his new reality.

Recently, Nabil Hasif graduated with a Diploma in Chemical Engineering (Food) from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bio-Engineering Technology (UniKL MICET). And he did not just graduate – he did so with a 3.49 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

“After nearly six months since the tragedy occurred, Nabil Hasif, a once avid sportsman, particularly in rugby, continued to struggle with his emotions and daily routines.

Before the tragedy struck, Nabil Hasif (first from the left) poses with his loving family in this heartwarming photo.

“However, upon receiving the scroll today, it served as a reminder that there is still a glimmer of hope for the possibility of his life returning to some semblance of normalcy,” told Nabil Hasif’s mother, Norashikin Abd. Hamid, 48, to CBSCD.

The mother spoke solemnly, acknowledging the significance of this small but meaningful gesture for Nabil’s journey towards regaining control of his life.

Nabil Hasif’s inspiring perseverance and unbreakable spirit have been a beacon of hope for others in similar situations.

He has shown that anything is possible with hard work, dedication, and a strong will to succeed.

At the UniKL 19th Convocation Ceremony’s seventh session, his persevering determination and inspiring triumph over the tragedy became a source of inspiration for those in attendance, earning him thunderous applause and recognition from the audience.

Proudly looking on, his father, Nazrin Aman, 52, remembers Nabil Hasif’s aspirations of pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and studying abroad.

Although those dreams may have been put on hold, his father’s heart swells with pride at his son’s incredible achievement.
