UniKL FC vs PIB FC friendly match completes inauguration of UniKL MIAT synthetic football field

Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), Dengkil gets its own exclusive football field with synthetic turf that will allow players to train and play safely as Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Director-General, Dato’ Azhar Abdul Manaf inaugurated the facility recently.

The inauguration of the football field was further complemented by a friendly match between UniKL FC and Pasukan Kelab Bolasepak Persada Integriti Bersatu (PIB FC) which saw UniKL FC won by a margin of 2-0.

The occasion became more momentous when UniKL FC was represented by VIP guests including Dato’ Azhar, Chief Marketing and Planning Officer (CMPO) of UniKL, Dato’ Amir Azhar Ibrahim and Dean of UniKL MIAT, Dr Mohd Hafizi Shamsudin in the friendly match.

“I think this initiative is good in providing the best facility for the students. I hope that this synthetic field can be put to good use by the students, which could further improve their performance in sports.

“With this facility, if possible, could pave the way for the students who represent UniKL in football, not only to play for the university but may be able to represent the state and subsequently the country. That is my hope,” said Dato’ Azhar.

Earlier, Dato ‘Azhar completed the inauguration of the football field by kicking a ball towards the goal as the launching gimmick.

Also present, Chairman of UniKL, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Sukiman Sarmani, Deputy Director-General (Education) of MARA, Razlan Haji Samsuri, Deputy Director-General (Management Services) of MARA, Rohayah Mohd Zain, MARA Senior Director of Investment, Mohd Dias Abas as well as President and Chief Executive Officer of UniKL, Datuk Dr Roziah Omar.

The 6,000-square-meter field was originally in a less safe condition for football due to its hard ground surface and poor drainage.

Taking those risks into account, the renovation work on synthetic turf started on 15 August 2019 and completed on 4 January 2021.
