‘Excitement in the air’ at UniKL MIIT as students return to campus

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), which is based in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, has reopened for physical classes after almost two years of conducting virtual learning due to Covid-19.

As students swarm into the campus for the first day of physical classes, it has livened up the campus environment with them expressing of feeling excited, but anxious about shifting to in-person learning.

Hailing from Papar, Sabah, a 23-year-old Bachelor of Multimedia Technology (Hons.) in Interactive Multimedia Design student, Mohd Ajaz Abdul Rani would prefer physical classes as the programme he is taking requires hands-on learning.

Despite the pandemic having not fully ended yet, Mohd Ajaz, however, believes the study environment at the campus is in safe condition with the implementation of the strict standard operating procedure (SOPs).

“Here comes our self-effort to always make sure that we are free from Covid-19 infection, by doing self-tests every morning prior to physical classes.

“This is totally a new norm for me after two years of online classes, but I was looking forward to it (physical classes) as this is the ultimate and better approach for learning,” told him, who is currently in the fourth semester.

Recently, UniKL has also welcomed new students to be part of its big family, for the January 2022 intake.

The current intake students are enrolled in bachelor programmes, diplomas and foundations.

Meanwhile, for a student who has never experienced in-person learning at university, Hazim Imran Hamidi, 21, said the reopening of campus for physical classes is definitely a most-awaited and thrilling moment.

“Of course, I am excited and have been waiting for this moment for so long. It is also for the first time I am meeting with my fellow coursemates and lecturers, which I did not have the chance to before.

“This indirectly injects excitement and enthusiasm for me to study and perform better for the current semester,” said him, who is taking Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) in Computer System Security.
