UniKL psyching up to win MACC IPT Anti-Corruption Debate Cup

Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) debate line-ups are ready to go the extra mile to become the champion of MACC IPT Anti-Corruption Debate Chief Commissioner Cup 2021, which will be kicking off this upcoming Oct 22 (tomorrow).

For the record, UniKL ‘to field’ two teams – UniKL A that consists of one debater from UniKL MESTECH and three debaters from UniKL RCMP as well as UniKL B, which sees a squad of UniKL MIMET debaters.

Deputy Director of UniKL Student Development Center, Mohamed Zul Fadhli Khairuddin said that UniKL is poised to win the competition as the teams are undergoing intensive training for seven days ahead of the competition.

“It is the first time we are featuring a team of young debaters. This tournament would be the best ‘stage’ for them to gain experience.

“There is a chance for UniKL to be crowned as a champion if they present consistency and construct thoughtful arguments,” he said.

Central Committee Centre for Student Development or UniKL Millennial Intellectual Noble Debater (UMIND) is responsible for the debaters selection including training, he further explained.

Organised by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), a total of 40 teams involving 140 participants from institutions of higher learning (IPT), Teachers Education Institute (IPG), and MARA Education Institute (IPMa) have confirmed their participation.

The four-day event will take place until Oct 24, with the final to be held at the Dewan Serbaguna, MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

The winner will take home RM5,000 cash while the runner up will win RM3,000, and the third and fourth winners each will win RM1,500.

This is the second time the debate is being organised where the first edition saw UniKL advance to the quarter finals round and made it into the top eight teams
