UniKL representative, Muhammad Faez brings Malaysian Youth Voice to the ASEAN level

“Youth involvement is vital as they are idealists. Their ideas blend with the experience of well-versed figures, such as ministers and top management, will form an excellent ‘batter’ (joint effort).”

That was opined by the President of UniKL Student Representative Council, Muhammad Faez Rashdan Mohd Rifae at the ASEAN Young Leadership The Future: Opportunity and Challenges webinar.

Muhammad Faez Rashdan, who was selected to represent Malaysian future leaders at the webinar, said that young people are undeniably impetuous and sensitive, but once they set their sights on anything, they stand firm on their decision.

“I am voicing out that youth should be given fair opportunities to involve in the aspect of governance as knowledge and experience will mould our youth capabilities. As their knowledge broadens, maturity comes next, which indirectly helps to build a country.

“At the ASEAN level, the approach of each country to uphold youth capabilities should be different, looking at the situation. For example, the ability of a country to maintain political stability has a great effect on youth,” he told.

Recently hosted in conjunction with Indonesia’s Sumpah Pemuda or Youth Pledge, the webinar featured a few prominent figures and academicians as speakers from five ASEAN countries, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, and Singapore.

The speakers pinned their hope on actions that need to be emphasized so that young people continue to be empowered for the future of the country.

“Indonesia and Malaysia, for instance, faced different situations related to youth; then there are hopes or aspects that need to be emphasized so that there is no disadvantage to the young people themselves.

With their enthusiasm and skill, they contribute to the advancement of society and serve as an example to others,” Muhammad Faez Rashdan further noted.
