UniKL garners acclaim at Hari Anugerah Pendidik MARA 2023

Hari Anugerah Pendidik MARA 2023 (APM 2023) recognises the remarkable achievements of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) as the latter took centre stage through four of its esteemed lecturers who were awarded the prestigious ‘Anugerah Pendidik Cemerlang’.

It was even momentous when UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) was announced as the recipient of the Best MARA Institute of Education (IPMa) award, alongside 11 other distinguished institutes.

The ‘Anugerah Pendidik Cemerlang’ award, a true testament to teaching excellence, was bestowed upon four deserving lecturers: Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Md Redzuan Zoolfakar from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET); Assoc. Prof. ChM. Ts. Dr. Norzahir Sapawe from UniKL Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bio-Engineering Technology (UniKL MICET); Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zuhanis Mansor from UniKL British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI), and Dr. Lee Wing Hin from UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP).

Dr. Md Redzuan’s remarkable service of nearly 19 years at UniKL MIMET was acknowledged through the “Day of the Seafarer Icon” Award 2022, presented by the Marine Department Malaysia (Jabatan Laut Malaysia – JLM).

This prestigious honour was bestowed upon him during the Day of the Seafarer (DOTS) 2022 held in Kemaman, Terengganu, reflecting his immense contributions to the maritime industry.

The academic prowess of Dr. Norzahir and Dr. Lee gained international recognition, as both were included in Stanford University’s esteemed “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022” list.

Dr. Norzahir’s achievement was particularly momentous, as it marked his second consecutive appearance on the renowned list, solidifying his position among the world’s leading scientists.

Dr. Zuhanis, a proactive researcher, showcased her dedication to advancing knowledge through active participation in research activities.

Her significant contributions, including her involvement in the UniKL Excellent Research Grant Scheme (UERGS), where she focused on improving the Performance of Water Monitoring Systems for Shrimp Farming in Aquaculture.

An annual event organised by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), APM 2023 was graced by the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

In his opening remarks, he emphasised the impressive scale of MARA’s educational network, with 9,880 educators spread across 342 IPMa institutions nationwide.

“Indeed, the countless services and contributions of MARA educators, especially to the nation and country, are immeasurable.

“Such outstanding results and achievements deserve recognition. Today’s Hari Anugerah Pendidik MARA is one of MARA’s initiatives to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of its educators in fostering excellence and ensuring the success of students,” he further noted.
