UniKL MIIT students bag 2 Golds at iCompEX 2023

Two final-year students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) have made their university proud by clinching Gold medals at the prestigious International Innovation and Invention Competition Through Exhibition (iCompEx 2023).

The students, Eiman Najmie Mazlan and Aina Sofia Ahmad Syahrizal, both pursuing a Bachelor of Multimedia Technology (Hons.) in Interactive Multimedia Design (BIMD), showcased their exceptional research projects that impressed the judges and secured the top honours.

Eiman Najmie’s project, titled “Virtualizing Aircraft Inspection: Improving Safety and Efficiency through Virtual Reality Technology,” proved to be groundbreaking.

His research focused on the application of Virtual Reality (VR) technology to enhance the education and inspection process of aircraft parts and components.

The VR simulations replicated realistic scenarios, providing aviation students and professionals with valuable hands-on experience, effectively preparing them for real-world challenges.

On the other hand, Aina Sofia’s research project, “AR Book Application on Smoking Effects on Lungs Among Malaysians,” tackled a critical health issue plaguing society.

Her study aimed to educate teenagers about the harmful effects of smoking on the lungs, utilising an Augmented Reality (AR) book application as a powerful and engaging tool.

Apart from Eiman and Aina Sofia’s exceptional achievements, another student from the BIMD programme, Syimah Watiqah Kasim, also received recognition for her Silver medal-winning research project, “Educational Game Development – Introducing TVET Among Future Students.”

Syimah Watiqah’s project was aimed at assisting students interested in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to explore and pursue their studies in this field at the university level.

The educational game she developed served as an interactive and enjoyable platform to introduce TVET concepts, ultimately encouraging students to consider TVET as a viable career pathway.

The iCompEx 2023, held at Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (POLIMAS) in Jitra, Kedah, from 4 to 6 July, showcased the latest innovations and inventions from young minds across Malaysia.

Every year, final-year project students from the BIMD programme join this competition.
