91 UniKL Pre-Korea Foundation students pursue degree studies in Korea

A total of 91 Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)’s Foundation in Science and Technology for Korean University or Pre-Korea Programme students have left for the ‘land of kimchi’, recently, to further their degree studies.

This 10th-batch student will undergo degree studies at various universities namely Korea University, Sejong University, Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University, Kyung Hee University, Yonsei University, Ewha Women University, Kongkuk University, Dongyang Mirae University, and Kwangwoon University.

According to the Head of Section Korean Education Center (KEC) at UniKL Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT), Mohd Hafizul Ismail, out of the total, 86 students are Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA)-sponsored, while others are self-sponsored.

“Even though the majority of the lessons were conducted via online and hybrid mode due to pandemics, overall these students were doing well in their studies.

“For the record, this is the first big group (99 students) that UniKL MIIT has hosted in the Pre-Korea Programme. Before this, the highest number was only 31 students (from Batch 1 to 9),” told him.

On 1 July 2020, the students enrolled in the Pre-Korea Foundation Programme at UniKL MIIT for 18 months and a 10-week Korean language Bridging Programme.

The programme prepares students for a range of undergraduate degrees in Korea, including Engineering, Computer Science, and Animation.

In the current batch, 49% of the students are studying Computer Science & Engineering, followed by Software (24%), Data Science (5%), Electronic Engineering (4%), Computer Security (4%), Creative Study (4%), Mechanical Engineering (4%).
