Master of Electrical Engineering

This programme aims to produce students with highly skilled professionalism that possess commitment, integrity, teamwork, innovativeness and excellence in the field of electrical engineering with emphasis on the advancement of power system and renewable energies with strong aptitude towards technopreneurship. The various types of electrical engineering careers are tied together by a demand for detail-oriented individuals who apply math and science to solve technical problems. The Master of Electrical Engineering programme will equip the graduates with the advancement made in electrical engineering industry namely Power system and high voltage engineering to become a more holistic electrical engineers. Furthermore, the graduates also have the opportunity to advance the researcher in these field as a scientist, academicians or pursue their study at a PhD level

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

  • PEO 1 Establish themselves as practising technologist in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge and interdisciplinary learning appropriate for biomedical engineering industries or academic careers
  • PEO 2 Function effectively and efficiently as managing an organisation with teamwork skills, as well as verbal and non-verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • PEO 3 Continue education towards the importance of lifelong learning and continuous improvement PEO 4 Establish themselves as a practising professional in the field of biomedical engineering technology
  • PEO 5 Establish themselves as technologist embarking on business and technopreneurial activities in biomedical engineering field

Programme Learning Outcome (PLO)

    At the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  • PLO 1Demonstrate continuing and advanced knowledge in electrical engineering and have the capabilities to further develop or use these in new situations or multi-disciplinary contexts;
  • PLO 2Analyse and evaluate problems critically related to electrical engineering and to provide solutions through the application of appropriate tools and techniques;
  • PLO 3 Appraise available information and project evidence and apply it in the application of electrical engineering context;
  • PLO 4 Plan and perform electrical engineering projects professionally, ethically and responsibly;
  • PLO 5 Function effectively in a technical team and able to produce and present technical reports;
  • PLO 6 Demonstrate an understanding for a competitive working environment in electrical engineering with technopreneurs competencies;

Local Student

  • A bachelor degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50 in related field, as accepted by the UniKL Senate; OR
  • A bachelor degree or equivalent in related field with CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in the related fields

International Student

  • All international students who wish to follow a course of study at UniKL must meet the requirements of competence in English language of at least IELTS 5.0/TOEFL 500/equivalent or as specified in the programme standard, or by the approved entry requirement, whichever is higher.
  • UniKL is allowed to recruit international students with conditional offer if the programme entry requirements or the programme standards are met except English language. Recruitment of international students under conditional offer will have to comply with the following conditions:
    • English language course conducted is approved by Ministry of Higher Education (short courses).
    • English language course (short course) conducted internally at UniKL.
    • Students need to have English language skills of at least IELTS 4.0/TOEFL 400/or equivalent to ensure that students are able to achieve the level set as in Para 1.
    • Students are required to achieve the level of competence in English language such as IELTS/ TOEFL/ Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)/Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)/ Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic/ MUET at least IELTS 5.0/ TOEFL 500/ equivalent, or as specified in the programme standard, whichever is higher, within six (6) months from the date of arrival in Malaysia.
    • Students who are unable to obtain a specified level within six (6) months are not allowed to continue their studies and UniKL is responsible to send these students back to their country of origin. Extension of the student pass or special pass is not allowed.
